Eco Universal Hybrid Primer for Wood & Metal – Graphenstone Four2Four

Hybrid Primer –  Natural mineral base + acrylic.

Graphenstone’s Four2Four primer has been designed as a bridge between difficult to paint surfaces and their existing range of excellent paints – so they have compromised with this primer to fix specific use cases – and therefore the formulation does contain a hybrid acrylic binder to allow their main ‘clean’ products to stick to complicated surfaces. This primer still has good eco creds, it’s just not as clean as the other products we stock. Generally this primer is not required for normal painting and surfaces. Four2Four is not as natural as the other products we stock. (It contains some acrylic & BIT)
We only stock this to complete the range of Graphenstone paints, and for customers that keep asking for this specific paint so they can use the Grafclean Eggshell on metal, wood and plastics.

If you are looking for a ‘true natural’ primer then the Auro range does offer an alternative. We would recommend the Auro Eggshell 517 as the wood and metal paint, and the Auro 501 Natural wood primer to match.

Four2Four Premium is a hybrid* primer adherence bridge for paint. It ensures adherence of mineral paint to all types of surfaces such as tiles, phenolic panels, polyurethane paint, etc., for indoors and outdoors applications. In addition, it acts as an antioxidant in metal substrates (free of corrosion or oxidation) and as a sealant of wood, MDF boards and stains on interior walls. It ensures the adherence of paints on all kinds of surfaces.

Main Features

• Coverage: 10-11 m2/L
• Dry time: 30-60 min. (between coats), & 6-8hrs (for painting)
• Appearance: Whitish liquid / Colourless finish

FOR METAL: Bonding adherence and/or metal surfaces: apply 1 or 2 coats depending on absorption or exteriors. Softly sand to improve adhesion.

FOR WOOD: Wood sealant: sand wood following the wood grain, clean thoroughly, remove all resins or resin secretion on the surface and smooth up sharp edges. Apply 1 or 2 layers depending on absorption the substrate, sanding between layers if a smooth finish is required.

FOR MDF: MDF board sealant: apply 2 coats, sanding between layers. – Stain sealant: apply a coat on the affected surface to detect the stain. Apply a second coat for more unmanageable spots. Please note that the product does not hide stains; the full opacity is achieved with the finishing paint.

Breathability: Four2Four isn’t as breathable as the other paints we have, you generally only use it on non-porous surfaces (Metal/wood etc).
it’s important to know if breathability is required, whilst the bricks themselves aren’t likely to need it the mortar may do if that is a requirement. 

Chemical declaration. 

Chemical preservatives & additives. Graphenstone paints avoid adding MIT or BIT chemical preservatives in our formulations. Instead, Graphenstone opt for a natural lime additive to serve as a preservative. However, it’s important to note that some of the raw materials may contain trace amounts of chemical preservatives. Regarding BIT, recent changes to EU legislation now mandate that all levels of BIT preservatives, no matter how minuscule, must be disclosed. A small number of raw materials in some of the Graphenstone paints can contain trace amounts – less than 0.05% – of BIT. This information is now required to be included on both packaging and data sheets. The product Four2Four contains < 0.02% TMDD (2,4,7,9-tetrametildec-5-ino4,7-diol), an additional adhesive agent enabling the primer to adhere well to difficult surfaces.
